Secunderabad: Although residents of Raoolpura, Balamrai, Annanagar, Karkhana, Vasavinagar, Llakshminagar and Picket areas are suffering because of power problems, repeated complaints to the officials concerned are falling on deaf ears. While the government has been claiming that it is able to provide uninterrupted power in the city, problems of unannounced cuts, high/low voltage are bothering residents of the Cantonment area for months.

Staff of Gymkhana sub-station have arranged a fan to cool the transformers because of the excess heat, while residents covered by another transformer are facing power supply problems thanks to hot weather conditions, they informed The Hans India.

The residents complained that repeated representations to Transco officials have not yielded any response. They also grumbled about power supply disruptions/unannounced cuts during evenings and nights, to which none is paying any attention. There have been complaints galore about household items suffering damage due to high voltage, particularly in areas covered by the Parade Grounds sub-station.

Residents of the area told THI that because of the indifference of the officials they had to suffer extensive damage of their household appliances. They attribute the problem of high voltage to the deteriorating arrangement of power lines on street lights, while alleging that officials seem to have done away with the system of receiving telephonic complaints, as no response is being received by them from calls made to both land line of the office and mobiles of the staff/officials.

They claim that when approached personally none is available in offices to respond to the complaints. According to the consumers the staff is resorting to abstention of duty in the name of field work.
