Hyderabad: Madhapur plagued by power problems
Madhapur: The residents of Madhapur have been at the receiving end as interuptions have been rampant in the last two weeks. "In general we receive 10 to 25 complaints from each section but now we are receiving 300 to 450 excess Fuse-Off Calls (FOC)," said assistant engineer, Electrical, Madhapur area.
He went on to add, "Mostly complaints through the FOCs are rectified instantly within 15 to 30 minutes, in rare situations like transformer blasts it takes 24 hours to restore power supply," said Rajesh, AE, electrical."
Work from home employees have been hit hard with back to back power interruptions in the city. Power interruptions are becoming inevitable, though the Greater Hyderabad is receiving about 2,600 MW, but it is disappointing people with hurdles in supply," said M Santhosh, Associate, Wipro.
"We have around 6,00,000 power consumers in the city. We receive around 1000 to 1200 FOCs, but for the past one week there has been 40 per cent increase in number of FOCs. Now we are receiving around 1500 to 1800 FOCs on daily basis. Mostly, we observed 20-30 per cent calls were increased during load relief measures. We are forced to stop the power supply because of constant fluctuations in the grid frequency. The increase in demand has also led to power breakdowns as the transformers could not withstand the loads," said Ravi Chary, Superintendent, TSPDCL."
"Almost, every day power cuts are observed under scheduled load relief, if there are unpredicted major winds and showers we stop power supply under emergency load relief due to technical glitches and most of the times, we stop power supply while solving the glitches and conducting maintenance works," he added.
