Amberpet: The leaders of Greater Hyderabad All India Youth Federation (AIYF) on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the Excises and Prohibition CI urging him not to give permission for locating space for a new liquor shop near Indira Gandhi Statue on the Amberpet Main Road.

AISF president Shaik Nadeem told the official that arrangements were being made to open a new liquor shop near the Indira Gandhi Statue, which is adjacent to Gandhi statue. Besides it is a mosque, a temple, a school, a dargah and colony houses within 100 meters. This, he pointed out, was against the regulations. The idea of opening a new liquor shop there is also being opposed by local residents, he stated.

Nadeem said the shop would cause inconvenience to devotees, school students and women employees, as they would have to walk past it. He warned of staging dharnas until the permission for the shop was withdrawn. Several leaders of AIYF were present during the presentation of the memorandum.
