Overflowing drainage causing hardships
Rahmath Nagar: For two weeks now, the drainage overflowing in Rahmath Nagar has been causing severe inconvenience to the residents and commuters. The drain water is flowing heavily through the manholes and sanitary locks in Rahmath Nagar due to internally clogged pipelines of the old drainage system.
"This inconvenience is not happening for the first time; this has been a frequent problem from last 2 years. Almost for every three days sanitation department cleans the drainage, but again there would be drainage overflow in no time in one or two days," said Krishnaveni, a resident.
"Due to the leakage of drainage water in streets, it became a difficult task for the commuters for two weeks to walk out of homes. There are several buildings in this lane in which almost 5-6 families stay in one single building and the pipelines are old and small, until unless these old pipe lines replaced with new ones, we really cannot get out of this trouble," said Sudhir, a resident of the area.
Bhavani, a private teacher, said, "Sometimes the situation is so worse that we tries ourselves to clean the clogged lines as the sanitation workers come only after repeated calls but after one or two days same problem appear again".
"As Srirama Navami today, we planned for Rama's carnival within our community, But we could not go forward to celebrate due to this dirty water in our street as we don't want to take our Lord Rama over this sanitation water" said Guru, Lord Rama's devotee in the street.
