Open sewage emits foul smell; residents restive
Gachibowli: The open sewage that flows adjacent to buildings at Street No. 1 in Gachibowli presents an ugly eyesore. Residents of the area are vexed over the rising stink and foul smell due to uncovered sewage. Repeated pleas were raised by residents several times and complained to concerned authorities, but nothing is done so far.
Locals demand that officials make some alternative arrangement by either covering the `open sewage' with slabs or at least provide huge pipelines to make the flow smoother and faster.
According to a resident, Mohan, "Earlier, effluents used to be released in the nala, but now it has come down. But still people keep throwing heaps of garbage and the stench that emanates from the dirty water has made our lives horrible.
The best thing the authorities can do is have those huge pipes through which the dirty water can pass." A housewife, Purna, suggests that a slab can be laid on the nala and that can be used for parking purpose. "We have been staying here for the last five years and each day is nightmarish," she said.
