NGO honors honest government officers

Punjagutta: Recognising the honesty and good conduct of people in government service, Youth for Anti-Corruption (YAC) has identified a few government officers and honored them.

Youth for Anti Corruption is an independent youth and students organization, founded in 2010 by Rajendra Palnati. Apart from fighting corruption and promoting good governance, the organisation has been in forefront to aware the general public on various social causes.

Government officers working in various sectors get any appreciation very rare. In this context, YAC decided to encourage and felicitate such officers. Some officers who are working honestly and without indulging in any corrupt activities were rewarded by the YAC at an event organised on Sunday.

PVK Reddy, Ex- DG, NHRC (National Human Rights Commission of India), Laxminarayana, Ex- JD, CBI, Akunuri Murali, DG of Telangana State Archives, and RP Patnaik, music director, felicitated Nagamallu Traffic CI, LB Nagar, Madhavi, Assistant Commissioner (Agriculture), Dr Ravisankar, Retd ADA and Jagityal Agriculture Advisor, Rajaiah, MEO from Karimnagar, Nadella Thirupatayya, Excise CI, Thaslima Mohammed, Sub Registrar, Shekar, Sub Inspector, and Kishan, Deputy MEO. SPF Constable Challa Srinivas was also honoured for their work towards orphaned corpses funeral activities along with senior officers. Active volunteers of YAC Giridhar, Devendar, Jayaram, Hari , Rajesh, Gangadhar, Ramesh, Mariya, Rajeswari, Sara, Bhavani, Varun, Sampath and other participated .

Corruption is a biggest challenge to India for its development. In India, due to corruption people are not getting even basic amenities properly, said Rajendra Palnati. He said one of the prime reasons for poverty in the country was corruption. The poverty alleviation programes of the government were also affected by the corruption. Hence the main objective of alleviation of poverty was not successful.

The corruption prevailed everywhere in society effecting common people, he added. Transparency International conducted a study in year 2008, it reports about 40% of Indians had first-hand experience of paying bribes or using a contact to get a job done in public office. Around 80 YAC volunteers participated in the event.
