Mother's milk best for infants

Bhanur: Only mother's milk is best for an infant, said ICDS CDPO Chandrakala on Wednesday. She was speaking at an awareness programme during the Breast-feeding Week celebrations in Bhanur organised under the leadership of sarpanch Srinivas.

Chandrakala and Srinivas stated that an infant should be fed by the mother within an hour of birth as it was equivalent to giving the first vaccination. They pointed out feeding infants for over six months by mother's milk would result in their healthy condition.

A joint "Srimantham" programme for 15 pregnant women was organised on the occasion. Among those present were MPTC Member Yadagiri, supervisor Bhagyamma and Anganwadi teachers.
