Jamaat-e-Islami Hind decides to back TRS
Chatta Bazar: The JIH (Jamaat-e-Islami Hind) which had earlier backed TRS in the Assembly elections has announced that it would continue supporting the same regional party even in the General Elections. With the belief that TRS would join forces against the ruling NDA in the event of formation of government at the Centre, the decision was taken after much deliberations.
The state president of the organisation, Hamid Mohammed Khan said that with this decision they hope to keep at bay the fundamentalist forces, which could form government at the centre for the second term. Describing India as a secular country, he noted that TRS has been steadfast in holding the ethos and hoped that it would continue to fight against any fundamentalist outlook. He requested Muslim community to vote all the 16 candidates of TRS and Asaduddin Owaisi of MIM contesting for the Hyderabad seat.
According to him the step was taken after a series of deliberations within the organisation "We had recently met Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who had assured that his party would not back BJP at any circumstance. We discussed about various issues including 12 percent reservation to Muslims. Amongst other issues the problems faced by Muslims were brought to the notice of KCR, who expressed to resolve them. Muslims should ensure that their votes are not divided at this juncture and should make a wise decision while exercising their franchise," he stated.
