None heeding pleas over abject conditions at Hafeezpet Division

With 70,305 voters, the ward that comes under Serilingampally Zone covers major areas that include Vinayaka Nagar, Janapriya Nagar, Mathrusree Nagar, Shilpa Avenue Colony and Marthanda Nagar.

This unreserved (women) division-109 is being represented by V Pujitha Jagadeeshwar since 2016 after she won on the TRS ticket with 17,094 votes against the nearest rival Shainaz Begum (TDP) who received 2,137 votes. The major contesting candidates other than Pujitha are Kurra Dhana Lakshmi(TDP), Boini Anusha Yadav (BJP) and J Renuka (INC).

People are struggling hard to reside in this ward due to lack of basic amenities that include overflowing of sewage water, bad internal roads, lack of stormwater drains, improper disposal of waste, traffic jam and air pollution. The residents over here allege that due to the negligence of the GHMC officers and local corporator, the ward is lagging behind.

One of the major problems in this ward faces is overflow of sewage water. Residents are also facing hardships due to pungent smell emanating from factories located in Bolarum and Miyapur. Apart from this, internal lanes are so pathetic that they are unfit for travel and also various colonies in this ward lack stormwater drains and a proper sewerage system, with the result that when it rains, several areas get inundated.

Major Concerns

"Lack of proper sewerage system has become a major concern to the residents. During the recent spell of rains, sewage entered a few houses. In many areas there is pungent smell in the area, besides smoke from the nearby industries, mainly during morning and evening. We are forced to shut our doors and windows. We have raised the complaint to Pollution Control Board, GHMC officials and local corporator V Pujitha but no action has been taken yet," said Nanda Kishore, resident of Hafeezpet.

"Almost all the internal roads in our ward are in bad condition and also there is no proper sewage system. We are tired of complaining about our issue to officials," said K Ravi, a resident of Hafeezpet.
