Central govt urged to revive Musi river
Hyderabad, July 9 : Congress Party MP From Bhongir K. Venkat Reddy today met the Union Urban and Rural Development Minister Haradeep Singh and submitted a representation to him urging him to take steps for the protection of the Musi river.
He informed the minister that the Center should initiate urgent steps to protect the river. In his representation, he told the union minister that 1.5 lakh farmer families used to depend upon the river for their livelihood. Noting that musi is a subsidiary of Krishna river, he informed the minister that the river covers 70 per cent of his constituency.
He said that the river water had turned into poison due to the release of industrial wastes into it. He urged the minister to take steps to stop release of any industrial waste and other wastes into the river.
