Reigning Tamil director Murugadoss of 'Ghajini' and 'Thupaki' fame said that he felt relieved like many others when the cops were given hero welcome after they shot down rape accused of 'Disha' in an encounter in Hyderabad few weeks ago.

"People from all over India gave hero worship to the cops and praised them as real heroes. Being the father of a young girl, I was comforted," said the director while speaking to the media in Hyderabad to promote his upcoming movie 'Darbar' on Saturday.

"Even Rajini sir called me after the news of encounter came out and said see how your story has got a real connect," he added. The director of Telugu film 'Stalin' said that he had to refer to this encounter issue because he is making a police story with Rajinikanth.

"Even in my film the cop is fear-less and brutal against criminals," he added. He claimed that he has been a big fan of Rajinikanth from his childhood and he was excited when he got to see him in person for the first time during the making of Tamil film 'Manan'.

"My joy knew no bounds when I saw my matinee idol from just 50 feet distance," he quips. Although he wanted to work with his favourite star for many years, it happened only now. "I readied four versions of 'Darbar' script since I didn't want to hear a no from my demi-god," he informs.

He assured the fans of 'Robo' star that they would not be disappointed. "I have loaded the film with all ingredients expected from Rajini sir movies with a topical theme set in the backdrop of Mumbai.

When Rajini sir delivers a line in his style, it acquires aura and grace. We have penned enough punchlines to enthrall fans," he points out. On working with Rajinkanth, he adds, "Rajini sir is a complete professional and toils hard even at the age of 70.

His energy is contagious. As a spiritual person, he has given me valuable suggestions. Without the support of producer Subaskaran, this film wouldn't have happened. I am glad that NV Prasad garu, who has been a long-time friend, is producing the Telugu version,"

On his last Telugu film 'Spyder' with Mahesh Babu bombing at the box office, he reveals, "I feel guilty about it even today.

I am thankful to Mahesh for sending messages to me every day after its release to keep my spirits high. Mahesh is man with a golden heart."
