Vizianagaram: Customers make beeline to get onions

Vizianagaram: Thousands of customers beeline to get subsidised onions at Rythu Bazars in the district. The government has started selling of onions at Rs 25 a kg at Rythu Bazaars as the price of commodity touched Rs 80 in open market.

On Saturday, MLA K Veerabhadra Swamy inaugurated a counter at R&B Rythu Bazaar here and said that the district has received 10 tonnes of onions from Kurnool district. He added the onions would be sold at all Rythu Bazaars in Parvathipuram, S Kota and Chepurupalli.

"We will sell onions at less price till the price stabilizes in open market," the MLA said. On the other hand, the customers are thronging Rythu Bazaars in large numbers to get the subsidized onions. Every consumer is restricted to get a kg of onions.
