Visakhapatnam: Officials told to take measures to tackle season diseases

Visakhapatnam: Health Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas (Alla Nani) directed the officials to ensure that not a single person of the Agency area falls sick in the days to come due to viral fevers.

After conducting a review meeting at Paderu on Wednesday, the Minister said Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was according a top priority to the welfare and health of the tribal community. "Despite all the constraints, the CM is keen on establishing a medical college and a hospital at Paderu. For decades, tribal communities in the Agency areas have been neglected and they were denied quality healthcare. But it will not be the case any longer.

State government has decided to upgrade all the hospitals at corporate level by investing Rs.16,000 crore. Similarly, he asked the Joint Collector to send proposals for calling tenders to develop PHCs. By July 8, 1,005 (108 and 104) ambulance vehicles will be deployed to every mandal in the state. Top priority would be accorded to the tribal areas," he assured.

As monsoon season is around the corner, the Health Minister directed the officials to make use of the time and take precautionary measures against viral fevers which the region is known for. He also laid emphasis on creating awareness among people. He asked for reports to set up Primary Health Centres at suitable locations. Road connectivity, treatment plants to provide potable water and medical camps, among other proposals have also been discussed during the review meeting. Later, the Minister said that about 35-acre site has been identified for the proposed facility at Paderu.

Tourism Minister M Srinivasa Rao, Minister for Roads and Buildings Dharmana Krishna Das, ITDA Project Officer and district administration staff, among others attended the meet. Later, the Minister also visited Anakapalle mandal along with the officials.
