Tirupati: Pawan Kalyan to tour cyclone-hit areas
Tirupati: To get first-hand information on the severe impact of recent Nivar cyclone and to extend support for the farmers in Chittoor and Nellore districts, Jana Sena party chief Pawan Kalyan will be touring these two districts for three days from December 4-5. He will interact with the farmers who incurred huge losses due to the cyclone and submit a report to the Central government on the impact.
Pawan Kalyan will be reaching Tirupati airport at 3 pm on Thursday and address media at a star hotel. Later, he will meet party workers in view of the forthcoming Tirupati parliamentary constituency by-election.
On the next day, he will go for field study on the cyclone damages at Renigunta, Srikalahasti, Naid-upet, Sullurpet, Gudur and Nellore. He will interact with the farmers where the cyclone impact was severe. After overnight stay in Nellore, the Jana Sena chief will tour in Nivar-affected areas in that district before leaving for Vijay-awada, said the party's Tirupati constituency in-charge Kiran Roya.
He will be the first leader to visit the cyclone-hit areas and interact with the peasants. Even the Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has made an aerial survey only. Pawan Kalyan's visit assumes significance when the Opposition parties are criticising the government for its apathetic attitude in helping the cyclone victims.
The JSP leader has been expressing anguish over the huge crop loss of about 12 lakh acres due to which the farming community left in the lurch. They lost even the cattle wealth. The losses have dampened the spirit of farmers, who were already in debts. After assessing the situation, where the state government fails in facing the crisis, he wants to take up the issue with the Centre to seek assistance to the farmers.
Also, he will be making use of his visit to discuss the prevailing political situation in the constituency which will go to polls to elect the member of parliament in the ensuing by-elections. As an ally to BJP, JSP wants to field its candidate from this reserved constituency while the BJP is strongly determined to field its candidate. It's expected that he will weigh various parameters before keeping pressure on BJP leadership.
