Tirupati: IIIT Sri City to offer M Tech in AI & Machine Learning
Tirupati: Keeping in view the importance of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI & ML) in the present-day scenario, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has approved to run the course as M Tech programme in IIIT Sri City from this academic year.
AI &ML has emerged with its potential ability to solve complex societal problems in a variety of domains such as education, healthcare, security, information forensics, visual understanding, and efficient transportation. It also helps in increasing the efficiency in providing intelligent e-governance services. Many countries have made national efforts to boost AI research. Following the widespread discussion initiated by the Government of India on the role of AI, Niti Ayog has suggested a dedicated Artificial Intelligence strategic plan. Top IT industries have invested huge funds on AI research and development in recent days and many start-ups are emerging across the globe.
Now, it's the turn of IIIT Sri City to offer the two-year M Tech programme on the subject for which the admission process has been started. Interested candidates may apply for it by getting all details from the website www.iiits.ac.in. The last date would be July 2020.
Institute Director Dr G Kannabiran said the course is being launched to bridge the urgent needs of talented scientists and engineers in the industry.
"The curriculum is designed with inputs from leading experts from academia and industry. This course has a strong emphasis on industrial projects involving state-of-the-art technology used in the industry. This will ensure that our graduates are well equipped, not just in the theoretical fundamentals, but also in applying current technology to build applicable industries."
The 64-credit curriculum has core courses of AI & ML and few application areas including computer vision, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, robotic automation. A team of dedicated faculty including Dr Shivram Dubey and Dr Subu Kandaswamy is identified to spearhead the programme. Admissions will be based on written and coding tests followed by interview.
