Sports Day celebrated at DPS in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: Delhi Public School, Vijayawada, was buzzing with young sportsmen and women on Saturday to celebrate its 13th Annual Sports Day on the school premises. The celebrations began with an impressive march past by the NCC Cadets and the members of the student council with flags that represented the houses to which they belonged.
Chief guest P Muralidhar, hockey chief coach, Guntur hoisted the national flag and school flag on the occasion. This was followed by a spectacular torch – bearing ceremony conducted by the young sportsmen and women of the school who have won national and international laurels.
P Muralidhar, the chief guest in his address said sports is very important for physical fitness as well as mental health. He congratulated the parents and the school management for encouraging their students to activity participate in sports and games.
An impressive drill display, aerobics and an outstanding display of Karate movements held the audience captivated. Prizes to the winners of various events were given by the chief guest, director of the school and the principal.
Pro-vice-chairman P Narendra Babu congratulated all the students on their active participation in sports and games and exhorted them to keep up the sportsman spirit in its true sense.
