Rs 400 crores for GNSS second phase- CM YS Jagan

Kadapa: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that in view of providing water for farming operations and drinking water in Pulivendula constituency, chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that second phase of Galeru Nagari Sujala Sravanthi(GNSS) will be taken up with Rs 400 crores.

The chief minister who was in Pulivendula for participating his father YS Rajasekhar Reddy 10th death anniversary conducted a review meeting with the officials over the Pulivendula Area Development Authority on Monday.

Speaking the occasion he said if the second phase of GNSS completed there will be the possibility of supplying water for both farming operations and drinking water to Chakrayapeta, Lingala branch canals as the farmers irrigating crops in tail-end areas would have sufficient water for their purpose. He said that government has decided to stor 20tmcft of water in Gandikota reservoir, 6 tmcft in Paidipalem, 10 tmcft in Chitravathi Balancing reservoir from this year. The chief minister directed the officials to prepare estimations for GNSS second phase of works.

Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy who also participated in the meeting said there was a number of pump houses, motors under the purview of Lingala, Pulivendula branch canals were not completed. He urged the chief minister to take initiative for releasing necessary funds. He said that due to lack of proper water supply micro-irrigation is being performed only 10,000 acres against the sanction of 50,000 acres in Pulivendula constituency. The MP urged the CM to sanction one lift irrigation Scheme Chitravathi Balancing Reservoir(CBR) through GNSS to overcome drinking water problem in Alavalapadu village.

On this occasion, locals urged the CM to take initiative for paying Rs 330crores to the groundnut farmers who stored their produce in the godowns. Responding their plea district collector CH. Harikiran said that as many as 10,112 farmers have stored 9,89,112 Quinta of groundnut in 39 godowns in the district. He said that among them 7,000 were identified for paying the amount in a phased manner. Deputy chief minister Amzadh Basha, Joint Collector Gowthami and others were present.
