Red sandalwood smugglers attack police in Seshachalam forest area

Chittoor: In an incident, the red sandalwood smugglers have attacked the task force police near Rajamanugunta in Seshachalam forest area in the early hours on Tuesday.

While the task force police were conducting the combing operation in the night at Itamanugunta, Chikatigalakona, and Kalyani dam surrounding areas, the Tamil Nadu smugglers have come across the police party. In this context, the smugglers left the sandalwood logs and attacked the police with stones and escaped into the dark.

The police have taken one smuggler into custody and seized nine sandalwood logs from the spot. The search operation is continuing to trace nine other smugglers who have escaped.
