Rajamahendravaram: Society needs women poets said AMS chief Jakkampudi Vijaya Lakshmi
Rajamahendravaram: Andhra Mahila Sabha (AMS) president Jakkampudi Vijaya Lakshmi has said that there was a dire need of women poets and writers in society and the women should put in their endeavour in this regard.
Mahila Kavi Sammelanam was held at Ananda gardens in connection with the International Women's Day on Sunday, under the aegis of Andhra Mahila Sabha and Telugu Saraswatha Parishad (TSP) in which at about 11 women poets participated.
Participating in the programme, Jakkampudi Vijaya Lakshmi advised the women to come up with various writings about the importance of women, as well as problems of women in society. Many women have hidden talent and underlined the need to bring them into limelight and encourage them.
She assured to extend her help to women poets at any time and congratulated TSP for its endeavor to conduct Mahila Kavi Sammelanan and advised to organize more programmes in future also.
TSP president Dr PVB Sanjeeva Rao said the organisation is putting its efforts to encourage
women poets and conducting various programmes with them frequently and underlined the need to conserve Telugu literature which is the need of the hour. Poetry (Padyam) is available only in Telugu language.
