Minister bats for fitness with sports in Srikakulam

Srikakulam: Sports and games are extremely essential for active development of an individual's brain as well as body, said Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Krishna Das.

Inaugurating the State-level Sub-juniors Badminton Tournament here on Thursday, the Minister expressed confidence that the district would host national and international level sports and games events in future. He suggested players to play actively with dedication and to get name and fame to the state.

Stating that the district conducted many sports events in the recent past, he announced that the government would continue its support for sports and games tournaments. He said that the government was paying cash awards to winners at national and state level events as part of encouraging them in all events.

In total, 270 players from all 13 districts participated in the tournament. District Collector J Nivas assured to provide all required facilities to encourage rural talent in sports and games events. District badminton association representatives S Suri Babu, B Damodar Rao, N Mohan and A Santosh Kumar participated.
