Dharmana Krishna Das is the first leader to join the YSRCP after it was formed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. With gratitude, after taking charge as the Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy elevated Krishna Das as deputy CM. But his wife and son allegedly misused the office by involving in administrative issues. As a result, key leaders of the YSRCP from all the four mandals Narasannapeta, Jalumuru, SaravaKota and Polaki have suffered.

The YSRCP leaders brought the issues in the constituency to the notice of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and he reportedly summoned Krishna Das, his wife and son and sought explanation. The party leaders also told Jagan that the constituency lacked development. Subsequently, Krishna Das lost his Deputy CM post.

Even after the demotion of Krishna Das, his wife and son and also personal staff continued their interference in administrative issues. There have been allegations that the personal staff of Krishna Das put pressure on engineering officials to pay bills to a contractor for tribal area roads in Saravakota mandal without the completion of works as per quality control norms. There has been criticism that the MLA could not prevent the indulgence of his personal staff on administrative issues.

In this backdrop, YSRCP leaders Dola Jagan Mohan Rao, Panga Bavaji Naidu and others left the YSRCP and joined TDP. In the wake of all these developments, NDA candidate Baggu Ramana Murthy and the alliance leaders are predicting their victory from the constituency this time as Narasannapeta was deprived of development during the last five years.
