Kurnool: Rayalaseema University JAC terms registrar, rector appointment 'illegal'

Kurnool: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Rayalaseema University (RU) on Wednesday termed the appointments of registrar and rector as 'illegal' in the varsity and demanded the government to immediately sack them from the posts.

Addressing media here, SC/ST/BC and Minority Youth Organisation state president Vankiri Ramachandrudu alleged that the management of Rayalaseema University has illegally appointed registrar and rector and demanded the government to sack them immediately as they are ineligible and unfit for the posts.

Stating that corruption was ruling the roost in the varsity, he demanded the government to set up a committee with a retired IAS official or sitting judge to unearth the corruption in the varsity.

Vankiri Ramachandrudu alleged the university authorities were least bothered to follow the government orders.

Rayalaseema Vidyarathi Federation (RVF) state president Raju Naidu said that the lecturers of downtrodden community engaged on contract basis were not paid salaries since last three months. The families depending on them were starving and demanded the varsity to clear the pending salaries of lecturers immediately. It is very unfortunate to have a minister of the downtrodden caste, who is least concerned to sort out the issue, said Rau Naidu.

RVF district secretary Shaik Riyaz described the former Vice Chancellor Y Narasimhulu as highly corrupt and sought criminal cases be booked against him.

He demanded comprehensive probe into corruption that took place in the varsity and threatened to launch agitation if the government failed to do so. He also alleged that due to non-appointment of regular Vice Chancellor, development works came to a standstill. He demanded for the appointment of regular Vice Chancellor for varsity to progress on all fronts.
