Keep adequate stocks of seeds, fertilisers: Collector to PACS
Nellore: District Collector M V Seshagiri Babu directed the staff members of the Primary Agriculture Co-operative Society (PACS) to get adequate stocks of seeds and fertilisers for the next crop season.
Collector held a review meeting with the secretaries of the Societies and also officials from the Agriculture department at the District Co-operative Central Bank (DCCB) here on Thursday.
Seshagiri Babu said that the district has been getting good rainfall and irrigation tanks are filled with floodwaters. Farmers have already started farm activity for the second crop. He instructed the Secretaries of the PACS to get the needed stocks. He said the Agriculture Societies have to co-ordinate with their members and meet demands of the farmers.
The Collector said secretaries should focus on the repayments and the debts have to be collected as soon as possible. He said the officials have to arrange computers for all societies and enter data.
Assistant Director of the Agriculture Ananda Kumari said seeds and fertilisers are being distributed to the farmers through 80 societies. DCCB CEO Ramana Reddy informed during the meet that the DCCB is ready to distribute loans of Rs.160 crore to the farmers.
