Advocates of the Kurnool Bar Association on relay hunger strike in Kurnool on Thursday

Kurnool: With a demand to set up the High Court in Kurnool, the advocates of the Kurnool Bar Association launched relay hunger strike at Sri Krishnadevaraya Circle here on Thursday. Umar Javed Ali, the Association president said that the indefinite fast will continue up to September 20. He stated advocates demand is to set up High Court in Kurnool and not a bench.

Excluding Kurnool, the government can sanction bench to the district of its choice, he added. Ali stated that the advocates in all mandals would also sit on the hunger strike till the government fulfils their demand.

A delegation led by the Kurnool Bar Association would meet Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on September 20 and would urge him to set up High Court in Kurnool, he explained.

The Association will decide plan of action after Chief Minister's response. On the first day of relay hunger strike, BJP MP TG Venkatesh visited the camp and extended his solidarity. Ali said that the people of Kurnool have sacrificed the first capital to Hyderabad.
