Advocates, students intensify stir for State Capital, HC in Kurnool
Kurnool: The demand to set up High Court in Kurnool has been intensified. With the demand, the advocates of Kurnool Bar Association have launched relay hunger strike at Sri Krishna Deva Raya Circle. The relay fast hunger strike has entered into 12th day.
On Saturday the students of various colleges in the town have participated in the protest. Huge rally was taken out from Raj Vihar Center to collectorate where dharna was observed. With the huge gathering the police were put on high alert to thwart the attempts of the protestors.
The advocates and students raised slogans demanding High Court at Kurnool and state capital at Rayalaseema region. After an hour of protest, some advocates were allowed into the collectorate.
But the Collector was not present as he was with Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy; the advocates gave representation to District Revenue Officer. Later, advocates spoke to media personnel. They said the demand to set up High court is a righteous one. Previous government has announced Bench, but we don't want bench, we want High Court, they said.
Students of Chaitanya and St Joseph College said that Rayalaseema Region has been ignored by the successive governments of Andhra Pradesh. We demand the state and central governments to fulfil the demands of the people of this region, they said.
