Illicit liquor worth 17.50L seized

Visakhapatnam: Commissioner of Excise and Prohibition Mukhesh Kumar Meena informed that the department has recovered illegal liquor worth of Rs 17.50 from March 1 to 27 which is the highest ever record during the election times in the state. Mukhesh Kumar on Thursday inspected the border check posts at Chintapalle and Narsipatnam in the district.

Addressing the media, the Commissioner said the staff intensified their checks at all the vulnerable areas to eradicate the illicit liquor. As many as 31 check posts were established and in view of the elections, 37 new check posts were established to arrest the illegal and non-paid tax liquor. The department has also deployed special officers across the state, he added.

The department has set up a tollfree number 1800-425-4868 to lodge complaints with regard to department and another landline connection also arranged with 0866-2428333. The department never revealed the complainant details and after acting on the complaints a report also would be sent to the complainant, the commissioner said.
