Governor's intervention sought to shift wine shop in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: The permanent residents of Kaza village in Movva mandal of Krishna district submitted a representation to Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan to pursue the matter of shifting a wine shop which was located in front of Shivalayam.

The petitioners stated that the said wine shop was open from 8.00 am to mid-night. General public, worshippers, school going students using the road were being put to untold hardships, particularly ladies and girls passing through the place.

The persons consuming liquor and using the unauthorised bar (loose counter) attached to it are causing hindrance throughout the day until mid-night, they complained.

They said that, often gang fights were going on, keeping the public under constant peril and panic. The police and Excise Department authorities are looking like spectators as the liquor shop is run under the surveillance of politicians.

The residents V Veerabhramam, Ranga Rao, Shobhanewara Rao, Gopinath Reddy, Saidhulu, Satyanarayana and others gave a representation to the governor to take action in this regard.
