Government keen to resolve issues of Chenchus: Collector

Kurnool: District Collector G Veera Pandian said the State government will address all the problems of Chenchu tribals on a priority basis. The Collector on Friday visited Chandram Penta, Chenchu Gudem in Kothipalli mandal and addressed the Poshana Abhiyaan meeting.

Pandian said they have pursued the problems being faced by the people of this area. "We will construct houses to houseless people. Apart from construction of houses, the landless would be given lands to strengthen their financial status," he said. He mentioned the government would strive relentlessly with regard to health issues of Chenchus.

The Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) and Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) department officials will take care of health issues, he stated and added awareness would be created among Chenchu women on anaemia and enhancing the percentage of haemoglobin.

The Collector advised the Chenchus to adopt natural farming, cultivate horticulture fruits and grow vegetables at their backyard. He also suggested earning good returns from livestock.

Nandyal MP Pocha Brahmananda Reddy mentioned Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was giving top priority for health and education of poor and downtrodden sections of the society. Will sanction livestock and oxen to Chenchus for farming purpose, he added.

Nandikotkur MLA T Arthur said they will strive to develop the Chenchu gudems and added Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy directed to pay special attention on the development of gudems in the constituency. Later, rice packets, bed sheets, iron boxes and other essential items distributed to Chenchus.
