Eluru: Top priority for safety of women: SP Navdeep Singh Grewal
Eluru: Superintendent of Police Navdeep Singh Grewal has said that the police would give top priority to the safety of women in the State.
Addressing a review meeting on crime at police headquarters here on Saturday, the Superintendent of Police directed the police to give preference to protection of women and girls. The police should intensify keeping a vigil on persons troubling women and girls. Awareness camps should be conducted on Disha Act in schools and colleges and ensure that every girl's android phone has Disha app.
SP Grewal instructed the police to behave in a polite manner with persons coming to the police station seeking justice. They should talk with them in such a manner that the victims should have confidence in the police that their grievance would be addressed with much care and they would get justice. Friendly policing should be encouraged, he added.
The SP directed the police officials to keep a strict vigil on the movements of rowdy-sheeters. They should give importance to each case come to their notice and strive hard to solve the cases by comprehending it totally. He asked the officials to settle the petitions received at Spandana programme. The police should intensify patrolling in places where more incidents crime being reported. Similarly, road accident prone spots should be identified and sign boards should be set up to avoid accidents.
