Conduct elections peacefully: Collector to officials

Ongole: All officials and departments should cooperate and coordinate with one another for the peaceful conduct of general and assembly election on April 11, ordered the District Collector and District Electoral Officer Vadarevu Vinay Chand.

He organised a coordination meeting with the central observers, police and CRPF officials in the election control room on Sunday. Vinay Chand said that the allocation of forces for the polling booths is complete and paramilitary forces are allocated at problematic booths and police officials are allocated as per the randomisation process prescribed by the Election Commission (EC).

He said that micro observer, webcaster and videographer were also allocated for the troublesome booths. He explained that 387 sector mobiles, 33 static surveillance teams, 60 flying squads are working in the district and 10 surveillance teams are working at the district border check posts.

The collector announced that striking forces are deployed in all constituencies and asked the police officials to follow the standard operating procedure to see no unwanted situations arise on the Election Day. He said that strong rooms are arranged at RISE Krishnasai and PACE Colleges of Engineering and seven platoons of forces are required for their security.

The SP Dr Koya Praveen said that April 10 and 11 are crucial days and ordered police staff to be careful on those days. The Ongole parliamentary constituency observers Dhiraj Kumar, Deshraj Singh asked the staff to see that elections are held in a transparent way. They asked them to control the flow of money, liquor and play a key role in conducting the elections.

The election observers Santosh Kumar Rai, Aravind Singh Hayanki, Ajit B Pawar, DS Ramesh, Deepak B Nalavade, HK Sarma, joint collector S Nagalakshmi, and other police and paramilitary officers also participated in the meeting.
