Collector tells officials to speed up housing programmes
Eluru: District Collector R Muthyala Raju has directed the officials to speed up the housing programmes and provide employment to beneficiaries under employment guarantee scheme.
He reviewed the progress of housing and other projects with the officials of DWAMA and housing department here on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, he expressed concern over tardy pace of works.
He instructed the officials to complete the housing units in a phased manner. Out of total 7,022 houses under construction, the 2,494 houses are at roof level stage and should be completed by August. Fifty per cent of the remaining houses should be completed by September-end and the remaining by October-end.
The Collector also emphasised on provision of man days to the beneficiaries. He was unhappy over officials extending employment to beneficiaries for only 20,382 houses. He asked the officials to accommodate them for man days during the next three weeks relating to other housing units.
He directed the officials to finish 11 colonies for Polavaram project evacuees with all facilities by Ugadi. Referring to sand supply, he instructed the officials to prevent misuse of sand supplies up to 5 units through RDOs and Tahsildars.
