Aurobindo workers demand new wage package

Srikakulam: Aurobindo Pharmaceutical company workers have been demanding new wage package for the last 14 months as their two years wage agreement with the management concluded in March 2018. Though the workers have submitted their charter of demands to the management under the aegis of CITU, the management has been neglecting them since then.

Opposing the company attitude towards company workers, they have decided to observe two-day strike on May 21 and May 22. In this backdrop, CITU State president Ch Narasinga Rao launched a massive campaign on the strike at Ranastalam on Friday to get support of all employees working in various industries in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Narasinga Rao said that Aurobindo management should hike the wages of employees considering prices of all essential goods in open market. He also came down heavily on the management for not increasing the salaries, removing the workers without any reason, not paying gratuity to kin of deceased workers, not spending funds for welfare of workers and for not allotting funds for development works in villages located around the company.

Due to pollution, residents of surrounding villages are facing trouble, CITU state president pointed out. CITU State vice-president Duppala Govinda Rao, division secretary P Tejeswara Rao, CITU leaders NV Ramana, other workers' union leaders B Rambabu, K Raja Rao, M Shyamsundar Rao, S Appala Raju, P Venkatappa Rao and S Seetha Rama Raju participated.
