Visakhapatnam: As part of the additional building coming up at Andhra University College of Engineering for Women, the work to construct the second floor began here on Friday. University Vice-Chancellor G Nageswara Rao launched the construction of work by participating in a ceremony. Laboratories for experimentation purpose, a seminar hall and classrooms will be facilitated in the new building block for the students.

With a budget of Rs 2 crore, the floor will house three classrooms and a seminar hall and the construction work is expected to be completed in six months, according to Chief Engineer of Andhra University M G Madhav Babu.

After the completion of three laboratories on the ground floor and another four labs on the first floor stretching over 10,000 sq ft each, the construction part utilising university funds is expected to be completed on the second floor in the next six months.

The block is likely to be developed into a five-floor building in future, according to sources. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Rector of the varsity M Prasada Rao and Registrar K Niranjan among others.
