Andhra Pradesh: Second tranche of Jagananna Amma Vodi scheme credited to 45 lakh beneficiaries

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday inaugurated the second phase of 'Jagananna Amma Vodi' one of the most crucial of the Navaratnalu promises. On this occasion, he said that the goal is to provide the children of the poor to get a good education. He said the scheme would benefit 45 lakh people. The CM said that Amma Vodi scheme is a boon to every child and that the 19-month rule brought about an education revolution.

"During my Padayatra, I saw situations where people could afford to study or send their children to work as labourers. When we came to power, we provided assistance of Rs. 15,000 for sending children to school. We are providing Rs. 6,673 crore through the second tranche of Amma Vodi. We deposit money directly into mothers' accounts. An additional 4 lakh students are enrolled in government schools; he said facilities in public schools on par with corporate schools," said YS Jagan.

Earlier, the CM reached the premises of the inaugural function of the 'Amma Vodi' scheme set up on the grounds of Srivenugopala Swamy College. He paid tributes to late YS Rajasekhara Reddy by garlanding the statue of the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy. The government has relaxed the rules this year to benefit more people and exempted the 75 per cent attendance rule for students under covid 19 circumstances. The family income limit was previously stipulated at Rs 5,000 per month in rural areas is enhanced to Rs. 10,000 per month while it was Rs 12,000 per month in urban areas.

Previously, the scheme did not apply to government employees and pensioners, but this time sanitation workers were exempted from it. With this, the Scheme is applicable for the children of sanitation labour families. In the past, only taxi owners in four-wheeler families were exempted, while those with tractors and autos were identified as beneficiaries under the scheme now and on the other hand, those with less than 750 square feet of land in the municipalities were found eligible under the scheme earlier, while this time those with less than 1000 square feet of land are also considered eligible under the scheme. With this, 44 lakh 48 thousand 865 mothers will benefit from Amma vodi this time.
