Amaravati: Decision on buses in 3-4 days said CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy

Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the officials to prepare a comprehensive plan as to how the public transport system should run without deviating from the Central guidelines on Covid-19 and a decision is likely to be taken in three to four days.

During a review meeting on Covid-19 here on Monday, the Chief Minister asked the officials to prepare a plan as to how the bus services should be restored in adherence to the Central guidelines and also the interstate services from Hyderbad, Chennai and Bengaluru.

Details of the passengers should be taken and the interstate buses should be increased in a phased manner. Tests should be conducted on the passengers, he said adding that this could be easy for tracing people as and when needed. Every traveller should be wearing mask. For operating buses within the state, the number of seats should be reduced to half and private buses can also ply as per the norms.

A final decision on when the buses would start plying would be announced in three or four days, he said. All government employees should be attending offices and steps should be taken in that direction.

In addition to transportation services, the state government considered starting takeaway counters at restaurants and eateries, strictly following the precautionary measures. However, the night curfew will continue from 7 pm to 5 am allowing stores to keep open from 7 am to 7 pm.

The Chief Minister further instructed the officials to speed up the process of identifying suitable places for the establishment of the village and ward clinics and asked to complete by March 2021. He further stressed on creating awareness among the public over the Covid-19 and removing their fears regarding the virus.
