Srikakulam: Agriculture is crucial for the development of the State and Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has recognised its importance, said AP Legislative Assembly Speaker T Sitaram and Minister for Roads and Buildings D Krishna Das.

While launching the YSR Rythu Barosa scheme at Amudalavalasa in the district, they explained that agriculture would contribute for the development of the State. The Chief Minister introduced Rythu Barosa scheme to provide financial aid to farmers.

Previous TDP government had neglected agriculture and farmers were left in lurch, the Minister said. The State government is planning to build warehouses in all mandals to help the farmers store their produce.

A proposal to launch insurance scheme for farmers is also on the anvil. Under the scheme, it is proposed to provide insurance of Rs 7 lakh to farmers in case of death, he said.
