Adilabad: With 50 per cent seats reserved for women in the coming up ZPTC and MPTC elections, they had a good chance to prove their mettle in politics.

Compared to men, women have more seats to contest in the joint Adilabad district, which was divided into four districts.

Majority of the women candidates were in fray for the last ZPTC and MPTC elections in general seats and succeeded.

For the ZPTC seats, several women are in the forefront in Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial and Komaram Bheem-Asifabad districts. Three out of the four seats of ZP chairperson are allotted to women.

Of the total 55 ZPTC seats, 32 are reserved for women. of the total 66 MPTC posts, 34 are allotted to women. Apart from these reserved seats, women candidates can contest from general seat also.

There are 1,506 villages in the undivided Adilabad district and 50 per cent sarpanches of these villages are women. In four districts.

34 out of 66 mandal president posts (MPP) and 33 ZPTC posts are reserved for women. 284 of the total 567 MPTC seats are assigned for women.

In Adilabad district there are 17 mandals. Of this, nine MPPs and eight ZPTC seats are allotted to women. Of the total 158 MPTC seats, 79 are reserved for women.

In Nirmal district, there are 18 mandals. Of this, nine MPP and 10 ZPTC seats are reserved for women. 78 out of 156 MPTC seats were reserved for women.

In Komaram Bheem-Asifabad district, of the total 15 mandals, eight MPP and seven ZPTC seats are

reserved for women. 62 out of the 123 MPTC posts are assigned

for women.

In Mancherial district, there are 16 mandals. Eight MPP and seven ZPTC seats are reserved for women. 65 out of the total 130 MPTC posts are reserved for women.

In the undivided Adilabad district, there are about 14,08,645 voters with 7,34,705 are women. There are 95,404 women voters in Adilabad district; 75,151 women voters in Mancherial; 53,212 women voters in Asifabad district; and 2,13,298 women voters

in Nirmal.
