Govt exploring ways & means to curb corona spread

Hyderabad: Will there be a surge in Covid-19 cases once monsoon sets in? If the advisory from the Union Government to all the states is any indication, it appears that there is a possibility of second wave of coronavirus during July-August once the clouds open.

This caution was also given by the Union Cabinet Secretary during a recent video conference he had with chief secretaries of all states.

As the number of cases has been registering an upward trend ever since the relaxations to lockdown were given, the state government has started taking precautionary measures to see that there is no second wave of Covid-19 in the state.

According to officials, the government is procuring necessary materials like PPE kits, medicines and was ensuring that there was no shortage of medical and paramedical staff to meet any contingency.

It is also examining the possibility of increasing the number of Covid hospitals. At present Gandhi hospital is the only full-fledged Covid-19 hospital.

The district administration has already been put on alert. An official said that senior officials of state Health department were studying about the impact of monsoon on the spread of virus in a scientific method to ascertain the situation.

Based on the outcome of the observations being made by the health experts and epidemiologists, some more necessary action will be initiated.
