Hyderabad: Nagarjunasagar dam observes fresh inflows from Krishna River, the raw water turbidity is increased heavily and it is leading to the poor quality of water supply. Officials urge people to boil water before drinking.

As part of the water supply to the Greater Hyderabad city, 270 MGD of treated water is sent without complete purification and being supplied by drawing the water from foreshore of Nagarjunasagar, Akkampally balancing reservoir as source.

The present treated water is being supplied to the city may appear slightly colored with turbidity which is within the permissible limits. The water is suitable to all general purposes and the residents are requested to boil and filter the water or any disinfection method may be used before consumption for dirking purpose.

In this connection the Quality assurance and testing wing of board is conducting a special drive of water quality monitoring by deploying the sample takers in all the O&M Divisions and intensively checking the water quality.

Once again it is to reiterate that HMWS&SB is taking all preventive measures to maintain the quality in all aspects of the water supplied in city.
