Warangal: As predicted Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) continued its winning streak in the elections to the 97 Primary Cooperative Agricultural Societies (PACS) in the erstwhile Warangal district held on Saturday.
Of the 99 PACS' in the erstwhile Warangal, elections were held to 97 societies. It may be mentioned here that elections to societies of Malyala in Mahabubabad district and Sangem in Warangal Rural district were not conducted for different reasons.
Of the 97 PACS, while the TRS won 89 societies, the Congress had just managed to win eight. It may be mentioned here that each PACS will have 13 territorial constituencies (TCs), also known as wards.
Each TC will elect its chairman and vice-chairman on Sunday (February 16). It may be mentioned here that one TC is equal to one Director post.
The breakup of TCs: The number of Directors elected from the TRS is 962, Congress 248, BJP 17 and others 28, thus making a total of 1,255 Directors. Later, the chairmen of the PACS would elect 16 Directors of the DCCB managing committee. The managing committee would also have the representation of Directors each from handloom, fisheries societies etc. These 20 Directors would elect the Chairman of District Central Cooperative Bank (DCCB).
