Warangal: SR Engineering College shines at Artificial Intelligence Hackathon
The students of SR Engineering College (SREC) have put up a fine performance at the National level Artificial Intelligence Hackathon organised by the TATA Motors at Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) in Pune.
Warangal: The students of SR Engineering College (SREC) have put up a fine performance at the National level Artificial Intelligence Hackathon organised by the TATA Motors at Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) in Pune.
The two-member team of Krishna Teja Jillelamudi and Rahul Bayya, both studying third year CSE- led by mentor Dr D Kothandaraman (Team CAIDL) won the second runner-up prize. The team worked for 72 uninterrupted hours on their solution, which is based on Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing (Technologies of AI).
The team was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 50,000, besides gaining attention from industry & academia circles. The round 02 is a 72-hour AI Hackathon which started at 10 am on September 27 and concluded at 10 am on September 30.
Artificial Intelligence Hackathon is a joint collaboration between Tata Motors Global Delivery Centre and Symbiosis Institute of Technology to nurture young minds in industry applications. The Hackathon is first of its kind in the industry which aimed at innovation in Artificial Intelligence and NLP (voice sentiment analysis) in English, Hindi and regional languages.
In all, more than 450 teams applied for the Hackathon from all over India. The first round was online, where in Team CAIDL, SREC Warangal solution was selected, which is based on Sentimental Analysis of real time digital conversations between TATA Motors and Customers. On September 16, the SREC team had a skype interview after which it was called for finale in Pune, to compete with the best 10 teams of the country.
This Hackathon is driven by industry leader, TATA Motors, to figure out an AI solution for their company. P B Balaji, Chief financial officer, Ravindra Kumar GP, Chief human resource officer, Asif Malbari, Vice president, Financial control, Arthi Desai, Head, Global delivery center were among others present at the award ceremony. Company officials have expressed their happiness for finding solutions for their on-job activities through young minds and chances of implementing these solutions. SR Educational Institutions Chairman Varada Reddy, SREC Secretary Madhukar Reddy and Principal Dr V Mahesh heaped praise on students who brought accolades to their institution.
