Warangal: Investigation into the case of nine-year-old infant, who was molested and killed by a pervert, is nearing completion, Commissioner of Police V Ravinder said.
It may be recalled here that Polepaka Praveen, a native of Vasanthapur village under Shayampet mandal in Warangal Rural district, picked up Srihitha from the terrace of a three-storied building when she was along with her mother fast asleep in the wee hours of June 19. By the time the relatives realised and caught hold of the accused, Srihitha breathed her last. The same day, Praveen was sent to remand.
Against this backdrop, the police, started investigation, interrogated the accused. "We have reconstructed the crime scene after the court allowed us to take accused into our custody. We have collected CCTV camera footage besides conducting DNA test of the accused," the Commissioner said.
The police also gathered information pertaining to the case from 38 witnesses including three eye-witnesses, he said. The post-mortem report is ready and will soon the accused will be charge-sheeted, he said.
The Commissioner said that the evidence collected by the police is corroborative to prove the guilt of the accused. "This sentence the accused would get would be an eye opener to those perverts," Ravinder said.
