Warangal: ABVP stages protest against Kakatiya University faculty
Demanding the faculty to focus on teaching, the ABVP activists staged a protest on the Kakatiya University (KU) campus on Thursday.
Warangal: Demanding the faculty to focus on teaching, the ABVP activists staged a protest on the Kakatiya University (KU) campus on Thursday.
They took out a rally to the examination branch and to the Registrar's Office, raising slogans against the administration for not lending their ear to their problems.
Speaking at the protest, ABVP State secretary Ambala Kiran said that there was an imperative need for the faculty to lay focus on imparting education instead of focusing on administrative posts. Stating that the faculty failed to conduct classes to the MEd students, he urged the administration to make sure of completing the syllabus henceforth.
He alleged that some of the professors who are holding administrative posts were not even turning up in departments once in a while. Later, the students met the Registrar and urged him to postpone the examinations of the undergraduate courses. They pointed out discrepancies rolled in the hall tickets of undergraduate students.
On the other hand, the ABVP activists staged a protest at the Mulugu Cross Road, condemning the highhandedness of police for using brutal force on a peaceful and democratic protest by them. It may be mentioned here that the police had on Wednesday allegedly used force to scuttle ABVP activists' protest who were demanding postponement of semester examination of the undergraduate courses in Kakatiya University.
ABVP State Working Committee member Punnam Venu alleged that police at the behest of Hanamkonda Inspector Dayakar had attacked the students who were staging a peaceful protest for the second successive day. "It has become a habit for Inspector Dayakar to come down heavily on innocent students. The police didn't even spare girls," he said.
"The ABVP cadres have high regards for the police but the way Dayakar had handled the students' protest was condemnable by one and all," Venu said, demanding the government to suspend him with immediate effect. He recalled that ABVP had in the past worked in tandem with the police against the Naxal movement.
Referring to their protest, Venu said that it's imperative for the KU administration to postpone the first, third and fifth semester examinations as the faculty had not completed the syllabus. Due to various reasons, the faculty had failed to complete the syllabus, hence the students need time before they attend the examinations, he added. Venu also pointed out the typos in the hall tickets issued by the authorities. The leaders alleged that police were behaving like razakars for the TRS Government led by K Chandrasekhar Rao. ABVP district convener Venu, city secretary Bharath, zonal in-charges Praneeth, Shivaji, Charan, Sai Chand, Tarun, Murali, Pasha, Raj Kumar, Shivaranjani and Jaya were among others present.
Meanwhile, the KU Controller of Examinations S Mahender Reddy, in a statement, said that examinations of first, third and five semesters of undergraduate courses will begin as per the schedule on November 29. He said that 1,47,701 students across from Warangal, Khammam and Adilabad erstwhile districts will take part in the examinations.
