Warangal: 10 min at 10 am gets underway

Warangal: The cleanliness programme, '10 minutes @ 10 am Sunday', initiated by Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development KT Rama Rao with an aim to curb the spread of seasonal and vector-borne diseases, got underway in the city on Sunday. Government Chief Whip D Vinay Bhaskar, who visited several places in Waddepally area, urged the residents to coordinate with the authorities in taking up anti-larvae activities to curb mosquito menace and thus, prevent spreading of viral fevers such as dengue, chikungunya.

"The onus is on denizens to give a fillip to the authorities' efforts so that to keep the seasonal and other viral fevers away. It's time to clear the old and unused items like coolers, drums, tires etc that serve as breeding ground for mosquitoes. Just spare 10 minutes every Sunday to keep your surroundings clean and save your families safe," Vinay said.

Elsewhere, Warangal East MLA Nannapuneni Narender, who launched anti-larvae programme at Maisaiah Nagar in Warangal, tried to sensitise the locals about the importance of the programme. He emphasised the need for intensifying awareness programmes and taking up mass campaign to educate people to participate in anti-larvae activities.

"The idea behind the programme is to keep our surroundings clean. It's a KTR's call to keep the State clean and thereby to prevent the spread of contagious diseases. It's time for the people to spare just 10 minutes every Sunday and participate in the programme," Narender said.

Greater Warangal Municipal Commissioner Pamela Satpathy said that the cleanliness drive should become part of every denizen. With the coordination of the people, the programme would be a huge hit, she said. Tollywood Director Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam, Corporators D Vijay Bhaskar, Swapna and Diddi Nagaraju were among others present.
