Nizamabad: India Union Muslim League (IUML) State secretary Abdul Ghani demanded that the government should waive off three months' power bills of the poor people considering the lockdout.

Along with IUML members, Ghani staged a dharna at Nizamabad Collectorate on Thursday. He submitted a memorandum to a senior officer at the Collectorate seeking the District Collector to bring the issue to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Minister for Energy G Jagadish Reddy and to review the electricity bills issued post lockdown.

Abdul Ghani demanded that the government should order to TSSPDCL to review all electricity bills of three months in single invoice, split it into monthly basis and reduce/deduct the extra charges imposed falsely without taking actual meter reading.

The amount should be adjusted in the next bill and ample time should be given to the middle-class consumers to pay three months' bills in easy instalments.
