Hyderabad: As the city witnessed untimely rains after days of abAn untimely untimelyove-normal temperatures, the skies turned cloudy at many places on Saturday leaving the locals experiencing pleasant weather.
Many places across the State, including Hyderabad, experienced light to moderate rains and thundershowers, especially towards night. The Manakondur in Karimnagar district recorded around 60 mm of rainfall. However, in city light to moderate rains of around 2-7 mm in various areas brought down temperatures.
Meteorologist form the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, B Raja Rao, said "The untimely rains are a mostly experienced around end of February where moisture-bearing winds from the South-eastern direction and cold winds coming from the northerly directions interact over Telangana and other southern states and formed a confluence zone that causes rains."
"Due to a trough running from south Tamil Nadu to Chhattisgarh, which is adjacent to Telangana made a confluence zone and formed cumulonimbus clouds at isolated places due to confluence of winds from different directions caused thundershowers at certain areas," he added further.
Due to the sudden rains, the farmers are concerned as it may affect the flowering season and damage the growth of fruits. Kiran Vissa, A steering committee member from Rythu Swarajya Vedika said, "As the flowering season is currently on, the untimely rains affect flowers of the fruits like mango, papaya the rains may have brought a sigh of relief from the heat but it also had put the farmers in grieve concern."
