Trial run for 'One Nation, One Card' begins in Hyderabad
Telangana government has implemented Ration Portability to get Ration commodities without any difficulty in the state particularly for poor people who migrate from one place to other in search of work. This Ration Portability has gained a huge appreciation and became the inspiration for the Government of India’s project ‘One Nation-One Card’.

This Ration Portability has gained a huge appreciation and became the inspiration for the Government of India's project 'One Nation-One Card'.
The centre is planning to implement National Portability throughout the country by June next year. From August 1st Centre decided to start this project under pilot mode in 2 clusters of two states each in a phased manner. In Cluster-I: Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and Cluster-II: Gujarat and Maharashtra.
On Friday Telangana Civil Supplies Department made Trial Run on this scheme. Beneficiaries from Andhra Pradesh Mr Eswara Rao, of Rajamundry, East Godavari dist, NFSA Card No. WAP0481025B0472 and Mr. Appa Rao, of Yelamanchali, Visakhapatnam district, NFSA Card No. WAP034109700550 has taken commodities at FP Shop No1677750 situated in Punjagutta, Hyderabad.
In Telangana state, 2.82 crore beneficiaries are benefitted with Ration Anywhere (Portability) as they can get their ration from any ration shop, which was introduced by the Civil Supplies Department on April 1st, 2018.
Ration from Anywhere (Portability) gained huge success as the number of beneficiaries using this facility is growing constantly. Till now about 2.07 crores Portability transactions are recorded.
Particularly in Hyderabad recorded the highest transactions of 42 lakhs as more people migrant from statewide for work. Next, in the list of highest transactions are Medchal 29 lakhs; Ranga Reddy 18 lakhs; Nizamabad 10 lakhs and Warangal 9 lakhs.
As Portability is gaining huge success in Telangana, the Government of India decided to implement this scheme nationwide. From August 1st Centre will be implementing National Portability on Pilot basis in the Four States. For those necessary changes are also done by Telangana Civil Supplies Department.
Accordingly, the Government of India has communicated eligibility criteria for beneficiaries for National Portability. Only NFSA beneficiaries shall be eligible for this scheme. Aadhaar number of at least the beneficiary should be seeded with his/her ration card. Ration card must be tagged to FPS in their home state of Telangana or Andhra Pradesh.
Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as one cluster; Gujarat and Maharastra as second cluster National Portability is implemented from August 1st. NFSA beneficiaries living in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh can avail their ration from any FP shop in these two states; the same with people in Gujarat and Maharashtra can get their ration from any FP shop in these states.
In this cluster beneficiaries covered under NFSA only will be eligible to get commodities under National Portability. In Telangana, about 56 lakh beneficiaries will be benefitted with this facility.
Foodgrains i.e., rice, wheat etc., shall be issued at the same scale and Central issue prices as under NFSA. Each beneficiary will get Rice 5gs at Rs. 3 per kg, wheat at Rs. 2 per kg.
State Apex Committee under Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to Government and State Project e-Mission Team (SPeMT) under the Chairmanship of the Commissioner of Civil Supplies Department as constituted for monitoring of the implementation of the scheme.
