Hyderabad: Vigilance Awareness Week - 2019 is being observed by South Central Railway from 28th October to 2nd November. The theme for current year's Vigilance Awareness Week is "Integrity the Way of Life". On this occasion, a program was held on Monday at Rail Nilayam Auditorium, Secunderabad.

SCR General Manager Gajanan Mallya graced the occasion as a Chief Guest. A. A. Phadke, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, SCR presided over the program. Speaking on the occasion, Gajanan Mallya stated that transparency, Accountability will be improved with the implementation of technological advancements could eliminate corruption in developing societies. He addressed a large gathering of staff & officers of SCR on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week inaugural function. He stressed upon preventive and participative vigilance than punitive vigilance.

He also elaborated about the corruption perception index (CPI) published by transparency international, in which India stands 78th out of 180 countries as of 2018. The positive attitude towards work, individual responsibility, ego-free mindset, spiritual achievement to understand material prosperity will provide strength to maintain integrity in day to day life. General Manager also stated that each individual should put their efforts to eradicate corruption to build a New India.

Gajanan Mallya released 'Animisha' a Vigilance Bulletin of South Central Railway brought out on the occasion and distributed the awards to the prize winners in painting and elocution competitions held among private and railway schools/colleges and railway training institutes etc., Chandrima Roy. Sr. Deputy General Manager & Chief Vigilance Officer of South Central Railway welcomed the gathering and gave an account of the activities of the Vigilance department during the year and stressed upon good practices and commitment towards integrity to keep away from corruption.
