In a horrific incident, a woman has suffered severe injuries after being attack with acid by an unidentified man here at Thimmapur thanda of Ibrahimpatnam mandal of Jagtial district on Wednesday evening.
Locals shifted the woman to a nearby private hospital for treatment and informed the police who swung into action to identify the accused. The woman was later shifted to Nizamabad for better treatment.
Getting into details, the 22-year-old victim, a native of Thimmapur thanda was married to one Ravi five years ago. The woman returned to her parents' home two days ago and her husband died six months ago due to ill health. She has a son and a daughter.
On Wednesday evening, the victim along with her sister went to Metpally and returned to Thimmapur in the evening. While the two were walking to the village, the accused who arrived on a motorcycle threw acid on her face and fled the spot. The woman suffered burn injuries on her left cheek.
On learning about the incident, Nizamabad MLC Kavitha spoke to the district superintendent of police Sindhu Sharma over phone and instructed the officials to accord best treatment to the woman.
