Students can acquire new skills with Digithon tour: IT Secretary

Hyderabad: The Digithon tour, being organized by software engineers under the flag of Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) to impart digital literacy to the students of Government Schools will impart new skills to them, said Jayesh Ranjan, Principle Secretary, IT department, Telangana government. He told that this tour which will create awareness to students from the basics of computer is praiseworthy.
He flagged off the Digithon tour which will be held in Mulugu district on November 2nd and 3rd in the BRK Bhavan, Hyderabad on Friday. He appreciated software engineers who came forward to take-up such initiatives under TITA in the weekends. He inaugurated a book, namely 'computer login' which was being given for the first time to government school students. This book, comprises of 60 pages will equip students regarding computer skills completely, he said.
TITA is taking up this special program in the name of Digithon tour to impart digital literacy to government school students for two days. Class 8th and 9th students will be given 16 hours of intense training in these two days. Topics like computer basics, awareness on internet usage, creating email id, cashless transactions, Google maps and search engine will be covered.
Many techies staying in and around Hyderabad will go to Mulugu district. They will spend these two days in the residential hostels there and take-up several programs including digital literacy. Campfire, discussions on several topics, some more programs for the students will be there. Entrepreneurship training also will be given along with this.
Narayana Reddy, Collector, Mulugu district, took special interest to organize this Digithon tour. Such tours have already been conducted in Gadwal and Wanaparthy districts earlier. So, Narayana Reddy himself contacted TITA people and discussed the things. TITA has organized Cashless Nalgonda program when Narayana Reddy was the Joint Collector of that district. More than 300 Digithon volunteers have made it possible to take up cashless transactions in 3000 plus shops. Sri Gaurav Uppal the then collector and Sri Narayana Reddy as Joint Collector have co-ordinated this program and have appreciated TITA. So, now, being the collector of Mulugu District, he took initiative to conduct this Digithon tour.
Nine mandals of Mulugu district will be covered in the current tour. Already an initial meeting among the DEO, RDOs, MEOs and TITA representatives was held. Students will be brought for industrial after completion of Digithon tour. They will be shown T hub along with IT companies. This Digithon tour has one more specialty. All students will be given 'computer login' books for the first time.
After Wanaparthy and Gadwal, the Mulugu district has been selected as this is a backward district, said Sundeep Kumar Makthala, TITA global president on this occasion. Computer login book, which was being given to students for the first time will be most useful to them, he told. Sundeep also explained that this book can be used as ready reference and also will enlighten them on several topics including what is computer, key applications and facilities, basics of internet security and how to use them. He told that they will conduct such tours in all the districts of Telangana in the coming days.
